Post Christmas Blahs

If I may get all schmaltzy, Christmas is the time of year when I think about my late grandmother the most. Every holiday, she would make her famous sticky buns. Since her death, I've sort of taken over that role. This year, I tried a healthier alternative as an experiment, making a batch with whole wheat flour and Splenda (TM) instead of white flour and sugar. I think they came out pretty well.

Unfortunately, I picked up a cold this weekend and cheering the Eagles beating the Dallas Cowgirls on Christmas night pushed it into laryngitis. It cost me a day off work. Lying in bed for three days made me think more about the rough times my family has endured this year. My sister's impending divorce ranking near the top. Now I'm in that blah period between Christmas and New Years where everything in the media is a retrospective of the year's events and/or predictions for the coming year. I'm feeling both nostalgic and anxious for the future.

Let's see what 2007 brings.
